Music is something that we hold near and dear to our heart. I would go so far as to say it is our life line. We are 5 individuals that came together because of music. We are 5 minds with the same theory of music; to express emotion. We are 5 people that want to make a difference in someone's life. Johnny Depp said “Music touches us emotionally, where words alone can't.” We are here to honor this. The current state of pop music is becoming more and more bland; more about substance and less about subsistence. And we think this is a travesty. The predominance of talent based, elimination shows has changed the perception of what it takes to be a musician. The garage band seems to be an archaic relic from days of yore. Now the perceptions is that one must stand in line awaiting judgement. It's almost like no one wants to put in the work. Maybe the laziness caused by these shows perpetuate the laziness in music.
A main point we want to get across i that the Real form of music comes from your independent artist. The one's that do all the work that a label will do, just without the label. The thing with "mainstream" artists is that we have no idea if they write their own music or just have the label hire studio musicians to write and record the music for the artist, then record their singing over it, karaoke style. If the label is the puppet master for the artist, what else could they be controlling? It used to be the music was first, and the artist was second. It has transformed from Bands to Brands. Yes, we all have something to sell. However, are we selling our souls or our bodies? We don't want our children to grow up thinking that they have to "sell" themselves to become a successful musician and to get their music heard by the masses as so many of the artists today, rather than put in the work to make quality music ttranscends time like those before us have continuously done. There has been too much focus on the fallible person and not about the tangible music.
Along with our up coming album, Movements, will be a documentary with the same title. We plan to build an army of independent bands/artists and music fans to get this message across and to save the meaning of Music!! We are going to be hitting the streets of Seattle with cameras and will be interviewing random people to see how they feel about the music of today and the future of music. This will be a part of the Movements DVD. Movements to us is the thing that moves you to change the world. We all have something in our lives that we want to see change, and we want to hear yours.
To us, music is real.
To us, music is about the raw emotion.
To us, Music is a way of life.
